Having trouble installing Care Launcher?
Windows or antivirus software may sometimes warn about new or unsigned installers.
Below you’ll find steps to verify safety and continue installation securely.
Why this happens
- Windows SmartScreen or antivirus software uses reputation checks. New unsigned apps often appear as
"unknown" until more users have downloaded them.
- The Care Launcher installer is legitimate and distributed from this website, but it can still trigger
SmartScreen because it’s a new file.
Safety checklist
- Download only from
launcher.jonasgrimm.de/download/CareLauncher-Setup.exe or the official
page.
- Compare the SHA-256 checksum after downloading. Matching values mean the file wasn’t modified.
- SHA-256 checksum:
bba14cfec630ad516bfb3ff8bd97e35443a115d49019d6758e5df04665fe4a3a
- Optionally upload the file to VirusTotal
to verify with multiple antivirus engines.
VirusTotal scan
The latest installer build was scanned on VirusTotal. See public results below:
Checking VirusTotal status...
Note:
Even if VirusTotal shows “1 malicious”, it’s usually a false positive.
Some AVs flag installers with launch/update scripts (like spawn, shell) even
when safe.
Always verify using the SHA-256 checksum above — if it matches, it’s authentic.
Bypassing SmartScreen safely
Option A — Run anyway
On the SmartScreen warning, click More info → Run anyway. This allows the installer to
start without disabling your protection.
Option B — Unblock file manually
Right-click the installer → Properties → check Unblock → Apply → Run.
This removes Windows’ “downloaded from web” mark safely.
Important:
Only proceed if you trust the source and verified the checksum or VirusTotal report.
If you are unsure, do not run the installer.
Antivirus warnings
- False positives are common with new files. Submit reports to your antivirus vendor or Microsoft if
needed.
- Instead of disabling antivirus completely, add a temporary exception for this installer file.
Resources
- VirusTotal — upload the installer
for multi-engine scanning.
- Microsoft Defender
Submission — report false positives.
- Other antivirus vendors also provide “false-positive” forms — check their support pages.
